Gazipur-1 constituency BNP candidate ordered to appear before tribunal over alleged violation of code of conduct
Gazipur-1 constituency BNP nominated candidate Mojibur Rahman has been ordered to appear before the Gazipur Land Survey Tribunal in person or through an appropriate representative and give a written explanation for violating the electoral code of conduct. The order was issued in a letter sent from the tribunal on Monday.
According to the letter, on January 8, at the 2nd annual Orash Mahfil of Purba Chandpur Barek Bhandari, on January 9, at the sports competition and cultural program organized to mark the anniversary of the establishment of the Swapnagancha Women’s Organization, and on January 10, at the 7th annual Waz and Doa Mahfil of the Compass Foundation, BNP nominated candidate from Gazipur-1 constituency Mujibur Rahman campaigned for votes in the upcoming 13th National Parliament election on behalf of the party and for himself, and the campaign was broadcast live on social media from Mujibur Rahman’s Facebook ID. In addition, election campaigns are being conducted continuously from that ID.
You are conducting election campaigns and meetings three weeks before the scheduled day for voting through the above activities. Which has been initially found by the committee to be a violation of Rules 3 and 18 of the Code of Conduct of Political Parties and Candidates in Parliamentary Elections-2025.
In this situation, it is directed to appear in person or through the above-mentioned representative at the committee’s temporary office ‘Land Survey Tribunal, Gazipur (2nd floor of District and Sessions Judge’s Court, Gazipur) at 11 am on Thursday, January 15, to give a written explanation as to why a report with written recommendations will not be sent to the Election Commission after conducting a full investigation for taking legal action against you (Mujibur Rahman) for violating the election code of conduct or why peace will not be granted after taking cognizance of the relevant crime for violating the said code.
It is also mentioned in the letter that a legal order will be issued against the candidate in case of failure.
