Allegations of irregularities have been received in the health assistant recruitment exam held under the Noakhali District Civil Surgeon’s Office.

The aggrieved candidates have demanded that the written exam be canceled and the exam be retaken in a transparent process and that necessary administrative action be taken against Noakhali Civil Surgeon Dr. Mariam Simi.

On Monday (January 12) afternoon, the candidates held a human chain program in front of the Noakhali Press Club in this incident.

Later, they submitted a written memorandum to the Secretary of the Health Services Department to the Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Shafiqul Islam demanding the cancellation of the exam and action against Noakhali Civil Surgeon Dr. Mariam Simi.

The memorandum states that the written exam for recruitment to the post of health assistant was held under the Noakhali Civil Surgeon’s Office on January 10, 2026.

The exam was taken in written form instead of MCQ method. The candidates were asked to answer the question paper along with the answer sheet and give written answers. About 8 thousand candidates participated in it.

The results were published on the official website of the Civil Surgeon’s Office on the same night, just 11-12 hours after the end of the exam. Which is unusual and questionable for a written exam.

In addition, information published on social media shows that the roll numbers of some people are included in the final results even without participating in the exam.

The candidates alleged that the beneficiaries were selected due to the closeness of Civil Surgeon Dr. Maryam Simi and a junior health education officer of the Civil Surgeon’s Office. The memorandum also mentioned that they were promised jobs in exchange for a huge amount of money.

In this situation, the candidates sought urgent intervention from the concerned authorities to cancel the written exam held on January 10 and conduct the exam again in a systematic and transparent process, transfer the accused Civil Surgeon elsewhere and take administrative action against him.

Noakhali Civil Surgeon Dr. Mariam Simi did not answer her mobile phone when she was called multiple times around 3:15 pm to inquire about the complaint. She could not be reached even after going to the office.
