Four members of a gang of robbers have been arrested in an immediate operation by the police in connection with an armed robbery in Kulaura, Moulvibazar.

At that time, the police recovered a microbus used in the robbery, a looted motorcycle, cash, wallet, mobile phone and a large number of country-made weapons.

On Sunday (January 12), at around 2:30 am, a certain Md. Lal Mia was returning home on a motorcycle after closing his shop on the paved road adjacent to Bagan Bari in Hossainpur village of Kadipur union in Kulaura upazila when a group of armed robbers blocked his path and beat him up by showing him iron rods and sharp knives.

Later, they snatched a mobile phone, a wallet containing 5,600 taka in cash and a motorcycle from him and fled in a white and maroon microbus.

On receiving the information, a team of police including Additional Superintendent of Police of Kulaura Circle Md. Ajmal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kulaura Police Station Moniruzzaman Molla quickly chased the gang of robbers and managed to intercept a white and maroon microbus in Chunghar area of ​​Kadipur Union and arrest 4 robbers.

The arrested are Jubel Ahmed alias Jubla (33) of Mansur village of Kadipur Union No. 6 under Kulaura Police Station, Md. Delwar Hossain (29) of Daudpur village of Brahmanbazar Union, Md. Nazim Mia (25) of Ghagtia-Kontagao area of ​​Joychandi Union No. 4 and Md. Zakir Hossain (32) of Chhatak Narai Bazar area of ​​Sunamganj district.

The recovered evidence includes a black wallet with 1,610 taka in cash, a motorcycle, four sharp knives, an iron pipe, an iron rod, a pliers and a microbus used in the robbery.

Additional Superintendent of Police of Kulaura Circle Md. Ajmal Hossain said that the arrested persons have confessed to their involvement in the incident during interrogation. Efforts are underway to arrest another robber.

Among them, information has been found that Jubel Ahmed, Delwar Hossain and Nazim Mia have multiple previous cases of robbery and theft.
