Therefore, everyone should cultivate more and more mustard. According to the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department, This year, 149 hectares of cultivated land and 90 hectares of uncultivated land, a total of 239 hectares, have been cultivated in the upazila. The yield has also been good. Farmers will be able to harvest the crop in a few days. ‘One hectare of land can yield 3-4 maunds of mustard.
350 grams to 400 grams of oil can be obtained from 1 kg of mustard. The government has provided fertilizer and seed incentive support to farmers, and we are constantly advising farmers in the field. ‘According to experts, the edible oil market in the country is on the rise. There is a price war over soybean oil. For this reason, farmers are now turning to mustard cultivation.
Various mustard cultivations have increased in the upazila and the yield has also been good. Upazila Agriculture Officer, Agriculturist Md. Ekramul Hossain told this correspondent, ‘Mustard is a profitable crop. In this saline and fish-dominated area, the farmers were unable to sow the seeds even if they wanted to.
In the current season, 280 farmers in the upazila have been given incentives and follow-up by the Upazila Agricultural Extension Department. In addition, 1 kg of seeds obtained from the Veena Bangladesh Research Center have been provided to 500 farmers.
Deputy Assistant Agricultural Officers have provided field supervision and regular inspection advice to mustard farmers. He said that once the mustard crop is harvested, all the land will be prepared for planting Eri Boro.
