Normal life has been disrupted in the northern district of Kurigram due to the severe cold wave for two consecutive weeks. The uprooted and low-income people have suffered the most due to the icy wind and bitter cold. A batch of SSC-2003 alumni has set a shining example of humanity in such difficult times.

On Saturday (January 10) evening, blankets were distributed as winter clothes among more than 150 helpless and poor people in different wards of Kurigram municipality. The SSC-2003 batch students implemented this humanitarian program with their own initiative and funding.

The cold-stricken people breathed a sigh of relief after receiving the blankets. Many said that a blanket is a blessing for them this winter. Nahid Hasan Robin, representative of SSC-2003 batch, was present at the time. Sadiqur Rahman was in overall support and journalist Rashidul Islam Rashed was in the direction of the entire organization. Every year, the helpless people here spend their days in extreme hardship due to the cold winds from the north. This is our small-scale initiative considering their concerns. In this severe winter, all the wealthy and capable people of the society should stand by the helpless people.”

The organizers said that they are determined to continue social and humanitarian activities in the future as well. Such an initiative will spread a positive message in the society and inspire others to do humanitarian work – this is the expectation of the conscious community.
