Plot to seize Baul Rashid Uddin’s property in Netrakona
A local nefarious group is trying to illegally seize the property of the renowned Baul Samrat Rashid Uddin and his heirs, who have been in possession of the national award for more than 100 years.
There is currently extreme tension in the area regarding this valuable property located in Bahirchapra village of the municipal area of the district town.
It was learned on the spot that the owner of 1 acre 33 percent of the land located next to the Netrakona-Mohanganj regional road is Rafiqul Islam and Sohel Bashar Gong, the descendants and partners of Baul Samrat Rashid Uddin. This inherited land has been in their possession for more than 150 years.
Locals, including Baul Emperor Rashid Uddin’s son Al Amin and grandsons Sohrab, Kayes and Khairul, allege that preparations for the Baul festival are underway on January 18 and 19, like every year.
But a vested interest group is desperate to disrupt the festival and take over the land by demolishing the houses.
The victims allege that 10-12 people, including Sajib Talukder, son of the late Jamal Uddin Talukder of Baluakhali village, Ward No. 4 Councilor Ferdous Kabir Rumel and his brother, a government official, Russell Talukder, are behind the scenes abetting a woman named Mahmuda Akhter.
It has been alleged that they are trying to destroy the peace and order and the environment of the area by showing their power.
Although the accused Mahmuda Akhter has filed a GD with the police station, Emran Bashar has said that his claim has no basis. He said, “We have been occupying this land for more than 50 years.
A house is being used for the work of Baul Samrat Rashid Uddin Academy. They are trying to encroach on our occupied property.
“The victim families said that despite having a valid document (No. 3283) in favor of this land, they have approached the court due to the attempt to encroach.
The Netrokona ADM Court has already issued Section 145 on the said land (Case No. 905/25).
Shafiqul Islam, a partner in the land, said, “The government has also acquired some part of this land from my father, the late Wahed Ali, for road expansion.
Now fascist friends are trying to seize our ancestral property through a syndicate. We are seeking the administration’s immediate intervention.”
