Lalmonirhat’s Hatibandha Police Station OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah has been accused of holding secret meetings with Awami League leaders. He called journalists to quell the allegations and held a press briefing on Saturday. In the press briefing, he said, “I went to Sindurna area with my force to conduct an operation.” On the way, I met a senior officer in front of Awami League leader Amjad Hossain Tajur’s house. I exchanged greetings. After talking for three to four minutes, I went to the police station.

But in a video of him that went viral, his car was inside the Awami League leader’s house. He was there for a long time. Later, realizing the presence of people, he left the place.

Earlier, the meeting was held at the house of Upazila Awami League Vice President Amjad Hossain Taju in Sindurna area of ​​the upazila last Thursday midnight.

However, Amjad Hossain Taju’s family and a police officer have admitted that it was not a meeting, but an invitation ceremony.

It is learned that Amjad Hossain Taju was the dummy candidate of the Awami League in the 2024 National Parliament election from Lalmonirhat-1 (Hatibandha-Patgram) constituency.

He is accused in several cases and is serving as the Vice President of the Upazila Awami League.

It has been alleged that a secret meeting of Awami League leaders was held at his house on Thursday night in the name of an invitation. At least 6 leaders of the Upazila Awami League were present at that meeting. Hatibandha Police Station OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah attended that meeting.

OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah also attended the invitation ceremony of the Awami League leaders after the meeting. When the matter became known, people started gathering, so OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah quickly left the house.

Another source said that several officials of the administration working outside the district, residents of Hatibandha, were present at the meeting. Hatibandha Police Station OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah refused to comment on the matter.

However, Amjad Hossain Taju’s wife Shapla Akhter claimed that it was not a meeting, but a family function at the house. The OC came at that invitation.

And Lalmonirhat Assistant Superintendent of Police (B-Circle) Jayant Kuman Sen said that a high-ranking police officer had gone to the house to receive an invitation. OC Shahin Mohammad Amanullah was there to meet that officer.
