Festive mood in BNP around Tariq Rahman’s visit in Bogura
After almost two decades, BNP acting chairman Tariq Rahman is going to set foot on the soil of Bogura.
This important district of North Bengal has been chosen as the destination of his first visit outside Dhaka.
Top party leaders have confirmed that he will be visiting Bogura on Sunday, January 11.
Party sources said that Tariq Rahman last visited Bogura on December 24, 2006. As such, he is going to visit Bogura again after 19 years and 18 days.
This news has created great enthusiasm among the leaders and activists of the district and upazila and supporters.
While talking to the leaders of the National Press Club on Sunday, Tariq Rahman himself mentioned the matter of the Bogura visit. The tour schedule will be finalized in the BNP Standing Committee meeting to be held on Monday night. The detailed schedule of the visit may be officially announced after the meeting.
Mass prayer and shrine visit program According to party sources, Tarique Rahman will reach Bogura on the evening of January 11. That night, he will stay at a hotel in the city.
The next day, on January 12, at 10 am, he will participate in the mass prayer program organized by BNP at the city’s Altafunnesa playground.
This mass prayer program has been organized to seek forgiveness for his mother, former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. Bogura Sadar Upazila BNP President Maftun Ahmed Khan Rubel confirmed the matter to the media.
After the mass prayer, Tarique Rahman will visit the shrine of Hazrat Shah Sultan Balkhi Mahi Sawar (R.A.) located in Mahasthan through the Satmatha, Tinmatha and Matidali areas of the city.
After offering prayers there, he will leave for Rangpur. Party sources also said that he will visit the grave of July martyr Abu Sayeed in Rangpur.
Several leaders of the Bogura district BNP said that such a visit by the party’s top leadership after a long time is organizationally important. “The leaders and activists and the common people are eagerly waiting to see him,” said a leader.
All in all, those concerned believe that a new dimension is going to be added to Bogura politics around Tarique Rahman’s visit.
