Cox’s Bazar Tourism Police recovers lost bag and returns it to owner
In a commendable act, the Tourist Police of Cox’s Bazar Region recovered an important bag lost by a tourist during a local rickshaw ride and delivered it to the owner via courier, setting a positive example for public service. This initiative has played a significant role in strengthening tourists’ confidence in the city’s safety.
The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, around 12:00 PM. Fuad Al Hasan, a tourist from Dhaka, accidentally left his handbag in a rickshaw after traveling around Cox’s Bazar. Realizing the loss, he immediately sought assistance from the Tourist Police.
Upon receiving the complaint, a special operation team was formed under the direct supervision of Additional DIG Md. Apel Mahmud of Cox’s Bazar Region. By analyzing CCTV footage, conducting on-ground investigations, and identifying the rickshaw driver involved, the team successfully recovered the lost bag within a short period.
The recovered bag contained a significant amount of cash, a smartphone, two credit cards, important documents, and other personal items. Since the owner had already returned to Dhaka, the Tourist Police arranged for the bag to be delivered to his address through a courier service.
Expressing his satisfaction, Fuad Al Hasan said, “It is truly commendable that my lost bag was recovered and delivered so quickly. I have realized from my experience that traveling in Cox’s Bazar is indeed safe.”
Regarding the initiative, Additional DIG Md. Apel Mahmud of the Cox’s Bazar Region Tourist Police said, “Ensuring the safety of tourists and maintaining their trust is our top priority. We remain vigilant so that both domestic and international visitors can travel here with peace of mind.”
Observers note that such proactive measures by the Tourist Police play a vital role in further strengthening the environment of safety and confidence for tourists in Cox’s Bazar.
