Condition of injured tiger rescued in Sundarbans improving
The condition of the injured tiger rescued from the Chandpai Range of the East Forest Division of the Sundarbans is gradually improving.
The tiger is currently undergoing treatment at the Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center of the Khulna Forest Division.
During a discussion with journalists held at the Humayun Kabir Balu VIP Lounge of the Khulna Press Club at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, Khulna Region Conservator of Forests Imran Ahmed said that the tiger was in a very weak condition when it was rescued on January 4.
However, after the start of treatment, the tiger has started drinking water and eating and is gradually regaining its normal wild agility.
The tiger’s treatment is ongoing under the close supervision of the Forest Department’s Veterinary Officer Hatem Sajjad Zulkarnain. Doctors were present at the time.
As the tiger is not yet completely out of danger, a team of expert doctors from Dhaka led by Professor Dr. Hadi Nur Ali Khan of the Veterinary Faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University reached Khulna on Tuesday (January 6) night and conducted an initial observation of the tiger.
On Wednesday morning, the expert team provided necessary medical advice on the tiger’s physical condition after conducting detailed examinations. According to expert doctors, the tiger’s front left leg was injured due to being trapped in a trap.
However, after observing the tiger’s movement, they believe that no bones have been broken, which is very promising.
The medical team expressed hope that the tiger will recover and be able to return to the forest in a short time.
Other members of the expert medical team are Professor Dr. Md. Golam Haider of Gazipur Agricultural University, Principal Scientific Officer of Central Disease Investigation Laboratory (CDIL), Dhaka, Dr. Md. Golam Azam Chowdhury, and Additional Veterinary Officer of Central Veterinary Hospital, Dhaka, Dr. Nazmul Huda.
