Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner and Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mr. Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid chaired a coordination meeting of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) with the internal departments and organizations of the area. The meeting was held on Tuesday (January 06) at the Sarit Dutt Nagar meeting room of Nagar Bhaban.

The meeting discussed the ongoing development projects and proposed projects of the city, traffic congestion relief, citizen safety, environmental development, etc.

In his speech as the president, RCC Administrator Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid said that Rajshahi City Corporation is a service-oriented organization.

In addition to providing services to the citizens, the City Corporation has been cooperating with other departments and organizations. This cooperation will continue.

If we cooperate with each other, both institutions will benefit. We want to make Rajshahi city more beautiful, healthy and safe. He also said that many vehicles move at high speed due to the wide roads of the city.

If the speed of all those vehicles can be restricted and illegal vehicles can be controlled, traffic congestion will be resolved. Those concerned must take initiatives in this regard.

In the meeting, he called for the preparation of a master plan by coordinating the Rajshahi City Corporation and other development partner organizations.

The opening speech of the meeting was delivered by the Chief Executive Officer of the Rajshahi City Corporation, Md. Rezaul Karim.

The meeting was moderated by the Superintendent Engineer of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, Mr. Ahmed Al Moin, and the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Additional Chief Engineer of the Roads and Towns Department, Rajshahi, Dr. Md. At the meeting, RMP Commissioner Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman said that the installation of CCTV cameras is underway with the cooperation of RASIC to keep the metropolis safe.

If the entire city can be brought under the scope of CCTV cameras, everyone’s safety will be ensured. At this time, he requested to take necessary initiatives to encourage the city residents to use footover bridges to reduce traffic congestion at crowded intersections.

Additional Chief Engineer of RHD Dr. Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said, Rajshahi city has earned the reputation of being one of the most beautiful and livable cities in the country. This achievement must be maintained. Development cooperation departments and organizations must work in coordination with each other. Organizing the coordination meeting is highly commendable, I thank the concerned. If there is any need related to roads, we will provide all-out cooperation.

RDA Chairman S.M. Tuhinur Alam said, work is underway to shift the Dhaka Bus Terminal to Nawadapara. The concerned parties have already agreed in this regard. It is expected to be implemented within the next two months. In addition, he said that if it is possible to build 10-foot roads in populated areas of the city, modern urbanization will take place.
