Fifty wheelchairs were distributed among persons with disabilities in Nakla upazila of Sherpur district on the occasion of the anniversary of Abdul Karim Sarkar Healthcare Center.

A discussion meeting followed by the wheelchair distribution program was held on Monday morning in front of the healthcare center.

The program was presided over by Nuruzzaman Munna, Chairman of the national NGO RISDA; while Shariful Islam, Manager of Abdul Karim Sarkar Healthcare Center conducted the proceedings.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Jahangir Alam attended the event as the chief guest. Social worker Razia Samad Dalia, President of Sherpur Diabetic Association and General Hospital; former Chairman of the Dhaka Education Board Professor Taslima Begum and retired Additional Secretary of the Roads and Highways Department Khondaker Rakibur Rahman were present as special guests.

Among others, Project Coordinator of the Abdul Karim Sarkar Healthcare Center Mostafizur Rahman and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nakla Police Station Ripon Chandra Ghosh also addressed the program.

After the wheelchair distribution, blankets were distributed among 300 cold-affected people of the upazila.

Local dignitaries, members of the management committee of Khaleda Ahmed Noorania Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage, teachers, guardians, officials and staff of Abdul Karim Sarkar Foundation and Healthcare Center, local volunteers, journalists of different media, beneficiaries and their family members were also present at the event.
