Fire service has recovered the bodies of 2 workers in Sitakunda, Chittagong. The body of one of them was recovered in a dismembered state. It is known that both the deceased were workers of a local shipbreaking factory.

Al Mamun, senior station officer of the Fire Service’s Kumira station, said that their team started the rescue operation at 7:30 am today after receiving a call on 999. The deceased were workers of a shipbreaking factory called KR Ship Recycling Yard.

Deceased workers are Saiful Islam and Abdul Khalek. Both of them live in Gaibandha district. Among them, Saiful’s body was recovered by the fire service in a dismembered state.

A team of the Fire Service recovered their bodies from the sea coast in the Kumira Naughat area of ​​Sitakunda at around 8 am on Monday (January 5).

However, the fire service and the police have different statements regarding the deaths of the two workers. The fire service says that two died in a robber attack. However, the industrial police claim that two workers died in an accident while lifting a new ship at the factory (beaching).

Fire service official Al Mamun also said, “In addition to the recovery of the bodies of the two workers, two other workers named Ashraful Islam and Rubel Hasan were rescued alive this morning.”

The factory authorities said that the workers were guarding the coastal factory with a boat (red boat) at night. When a gang of robbers came to loot the goods at the factory, the workers went to resist them. At that time, the body of one of the robbers was cut into pieces by the sharp weapons of the gang. At that time, the rest of the workers jumped from the boat into the sea, where another worker died.

Meanwhile, while the factory authorities said that the two workers died in the attack by the robbers, the police, organizations working with shipwrecked workers, and local residents have made different claims. They claim that two workers died in an accident while lifting a new ship at the shipbreaking factory. The boat in which the workers were travelling was smashed by the ship. Both died at that time.

When asked how the fire service was so sure, the official said, “We rescued two more people from the place. Based on the information we got from them, we are saying that it is related to a robbery incident.”

Industrial Police SP Chittagong-3 Abdullah Al Mahmud said, “Two bodies were found from there, one body is intact, the other body is in three pieces, the hands are separate, the legs are separate, the head is separate, the throat is separate. Our investigation is underway, after the investigation we will know what really happened.”
