Monajat Uddin is a memorable name in the world of rural journalism in Bangladesh. He was not just a journalist, he himself became an institution, a subject of research.

He was not a citizen journalist sitting at a table and chair, he was a journalist of the grassroots, a journalist of the general public.
Monajat Uddin is still a beacon of inspiration for thousands of journalists.
He added a new dimension to the history of journalism by researching and reporting on the news that is hidden behind the news.
This information-seeking journalist, wandering around the village streets, has reported on various dimensions in his journalistic life,
and has also written about various incidents rich in life experience.
This distinguished journalist was born on January 18, 1945 in Gangachara Upazila of Rangpur.
He started his career in journalism through a bulletin published from Bogra in the 1960s.
In his working life, he worked for Dhaka’s Daily Awaz, Daily Azad, Daily Sangbad and most recently Daily Janakantha.
He was the editor and publisher of Daily Rangpur. His field of coverage was the backwaters and backward towns of Bengal. He accumulated a lot of experience in his long life by walking from village to village.
And in the light of these experiences, he wrote 11 books. In recognition of his unique contribution to the newspaper and his work, he received the Ekushey Padak (posthumous) in 1997, the Philips Award in 1987, the Rangpur Natya Samity Award in 1977, the Journalist Zahur Hossain Chowdhury Smriti Padak in 1984, the Alor Sandhanhe Magazine Award in 1985, the Photographic Society of Bogra Certificate of Honor in 1986, the Bangladesh Institute of Diploma Engineers Award in 1987, the Rangpur Infantry Group’s Gunijan Award in 1988, the Bogra Writer’s Chakra Award in 1990, the same year, the Social and Technological Affairs Magazine ‘Karigar’ Award for his arduous efforts to make the inherent power of technology visible and popular through writing, and the prestigious Ashoka Fellowship in 1995.
In addition, he received many other awards and honors. However, Munajat Uddin considered the love and respect of people, which he received until his death, to be a greater award than this award.
Today, on the 30th death anniversary of Charan journalist Monajatuddin, the Chittagong Reporters Association pays humble tribute to the organization’s founding president: – Sohag Arefin
When our country’s media executives and city journalists hear the word ‘mofasal journalism’, some openly and some secretly disdain it. This unsympathetic mentality towards mofasal journalists and journalism has been going on for a long time. It still exists. However, a mofasal journalist named Monajatuddin brought about a big change in that thinking.
CRA General Secretary: – Nurul Amin Khokon said that the country’s journalism is currently going through a transitional period. At such a time, it was necessary to highlight journalists like Monajatuddin more to the new generation. But no such initiative is visible now. And that is why this generation of journalists does not even know Munajat. Whether it is in the mofasal or the capital Dhaka – the state of journalism is declining everywhere. Degradation everywhere.
