Superintendent of Police AMM Sajedur Rahman exchanged views with leaders of the Cox’s Bazar Press Club on the overall law and order situation in Cox’s Bazar district, the upcoming national elections and the progress in recovering police weapons looted during the popular uprising.
Additional Superintendent of Police Alok Biswas was present at the exchange of views held at the Cox’s Bazar Police Superintendent’s office on Monday (December 5, 2026).
At the exchange of views, the Superintendent of Police said, “The police are sincerely fulfilling their duties to organize fair, free and peaceful elections. No kind of chaos will be tolerated around the elections.
Constructive cooperation from journalists is very important in this regard.”
The meeting was attended by the President and General Secretary of the Cox’s Bazar Press Club and other journalist leaders.
The journalist leaders expressed concern about the law and order situation in the district. They particularly highlighted the lack of visible progress in drug trafficking, robbery, illegal weapons recovery activities and the fact that more than 1800 police weapons looted across the country during the mass uprising have not yet been found.
MM Sajedur Rahman said, “Not only law enforcement agencies, but also social awareness and the responsible role of the media are very important in maintaining law and order.
When journalists, as a mirror of society, present true and objective information, it becomes easier to suppress crime.”
He also said that the police are working with the utmost professionalism and transparency to ensure public safety and welcome constructive criticism from the media.
In this exchange of views held in a cordial atmosphere, it was hoped that such coordination meetings between the police and the media will continue in the future.
