BGB raid arrests drug dealer with Yaba in Ukhia
A drug dealer with 10 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets has been arrested in a raid by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. A CNG autorickshaw used for smuggling Yaba was also seized during the raid.
The raid was conducted at the Hoi Kyung check post of Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) at around 10 am on Sunday (January 4).
The arrested person is Jasim Uddin (40), son of Abul Kashem of Purba Rangikhali village in Teknaf upazila.
Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, BGBMS, PSC confirmed the matter.
He said that a passenger CNG from Nihn Rangikhali to Cox’s Bazar reached the Hoi Kang check post when a BGB patrol team conducted a search.
At that time, 10 thousand pieces of Yaba tablets were recovered under the CNG, wrapped in polythene, which was hidden in a novel way next to the gas cylinder. The driver of the CNG, Jasim Uddin, was arrested in this incident.
During initial interrogation, the detainee admitted that he was collecting Yaba from the Hnila area and taking it to Cox’s Bazar to sell at a higher price. Although the CNG was searched in more detail, no other illegal goods were found.
Lieutenant Colonel Jasim Uddin also said that intelligence surveillance has been strengthened to identify others involved in the drug supply ring.
Legal action is being taken against the recovered Yaba, CNG and the arrested accused and the process of handing them over to Teknaf Model Police Station is underway.
He said that along with border security, the BGB has always been strict in preventing drugs and smuggling. Such operations will continue in the future as well.
