Sports should be given priority for children’s mental and physical development – Khulna Divisional Commissioner
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Additional Secretary Md. Mokhtar Ahmed said that to move the country forward, equal importance should be given to sports along with education.. Sports should be given priority in achieving mental and physical excellence of our children. He said, “The field where children run is where strength, discipline and morality are born.” He said, “Sports are not just entertainment, it is the most powerful means of building a society.”
He also said, “To free today’s generation from other addictions and to help them flourish in their young talents, it is very necessary to guide our children in the right direction.”. He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 37th annual sports competition and award distribution ceremony organized at the National Women’s Sports Complex ground in Khulna on Saturday morning, January 3, 2026, with the participation of departmental officers and employees and their children.. The event, organized by the Khulna Divisional Administration and the Government Employees Welfare Board, was presided over by Additional Divisional Commissioner General Abu Sayed Md. Manjur Alam.. Additional Divisional Commissioner Revenue Ms. Sifat Mehnaz was the special guest at the event.. Md. Shahinuzzaman, Deputy Secretary, Director of the Khulna Divisional Office of the Bangladesh Government Employees Welfare Board, delivered the welcome speech at the event.. Nasrin Akhter, Deputy Director of the Khulna Divisional Office of the Government Employees Welfare Board, warmly welcomed the guests who arrived at the event.. Officials and employees from 10 districts of Khulna division and their children participated in the game.. At the end of the game, a colorful ceremony was held with prize distribution.
