Nominations of 19 candidates cancelled in Gazipur: 34 candidates valid

The nominations of 19 candidates have been cancelled due to various discrepancies among the 53 candidates who filed for the five parliamentary constituencies of Gazipur to contest the 13th National Parliament elections. The nominations of 34 candidates have been declared valid.

Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Mohammad Alam Hossain made this announcement after scrutinizing the nomination papers on Saturday.

The process of scrutinizing the nomination papers was held from morning to afternoon at the Bhawal Conference Room of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Out of a total of 8 candidates in Gazipur-1 constituency, 2 nominations have been cancelled. They are – Atiqul Islam (Gana Front) and S. M. Sharikul Islam (National Party).

The valid candidates in this constituency are – BNP’s Md. Mujibur Rahman, Shah Alam Bakshi of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maulana GM Ruhul Amin (Bangladesh Islamic Movement), Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiqui (Bangladesh Labor Party), Taslima Akhter (Bangladesh Socialist Party-Marxist) and Emarat Hossain Arif (Independent).

18 candidates submitted their nominations for Gazipur-2 constituency, out of which 8 applications were rejected.

The rejected candidates are – Independent candidate Salauddin Sarkar, Jeet Barua, Tapsi Tanmoy Chowdhury, Jatiya Party’s Mohammad Israfil Mia, Ganofront’s Atiqul Islam, Janatar Dal’s Mohammad Shariful Islam, Ganodhikar Parishad’s Mahfuzur Rahman Khan and Khelafat Majlis’s Khandaker Ruhul Amin.

The valid candidates for this constituency are – BNP’s M. Manjurul Karim Rony, Muhammad Hossain Ali of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Ali Naser Khan of Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP), Hanif Sarkar (Islami Andolon Bangladesh), Md. Ziaul Kabir (Communist Party of Bangladesh), Masud Reza (Samajtantrik Dal-Marxist of Bangladesh), Sarkar Taslima Afroz (Insaniat Biplob Bangladesh), Md. Mahbub Alam (National Party), Md. Md. Abdul Qayoum (Samajtantrik Dal of Bangladesh) and Abbas Islam Khan (AB Party).

Out of 10 candidates in Gazipur-3 constituency, 3 nominations have been cancelled.

They are independent candidates Md. Izadur Rahman Chowdhury and Golam Shabbir Ali and Dr. Maulana Mufti Shamim Ahmed of Islamic Unity Alliance.

The legitimate candidates for this constituency are BNP’s S, M, Rafiqul Islam, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Md. Jahangir Alam, Muhammad Ehsanul Haque (Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis), Md. Nazim Uddin (Jatiya Party), Alamgir Hossain (Islami Andolan Bangladesh), Md. Kaushik Ahamed (Amar Bangladesh Party) and Ashiqul Islam Piyal (Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal).

Out of the 9 candidates in Gazipur-4 constituency, 4 nominations have been cancelled.

They are independent candidates Md. Abul Hashem and Md. Shafiullah; Zakir Hossain of Aam Janta Party and Kazim Uddin of Islami Andolan Bangladesh.

The legitimate candidates for this constituency are BNP’s Shah Riazul Hannan, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Salah Uddin Ayubi, Manabendra Deb (CPB), Enamul Kabir (Jatiya Party) and Monir Hossain (National People’s Party-NPP).

In Gazipur-5 constituency, the nominations of 2 out of 8 candidates have been cancelled.

They are Ruhul Amin of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish and Dr. Md. Shafiuddin Sarkar of Jatiya Party.

The valid candidates for this constituency are AKM Fazlul Haque Milon of BNP, Md. Khairul Hasan of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Gazi Ataur Rahman of Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Md. Al Amin Dewan (Islamic Front Bangladesh), Kajal Bhuiyan (Gano Forum) and Md. Azam Khan (Janata Dal).
