The selection of candidates for 5 seats in Netrakona in the upcoming 13th election has been completed. In the selection, the candidacies of 22 people, including BNP candidate Barrister Kaiser Kamal for Netrakona-1 (Durgapur-Kalmakanda) constituency and BNP candidate Lutfuzzaman Babar for Netrakona-4 (Madan-Mohanganj-Khaliajuri) constituency and independent candidate Babar’s wife Tahmina Zaman Sraboni for the same constituency, were declared valid by District Returning Officer Md. Saifur Rahman.

The candidacies of 5 people have been declared cancelled and the candidacies of 3 people have been postponed. The District Returning Officer gave this information yesterday, Saturday afternoon.

In addition, the BNP candidate for Netrakona- (Atpara-Kendua) constituency is District BNP General Secretary and Central Executive Committee member Dr. The Returning Officer has declared the independent candidacies of Rafiqul Islam Hilali and former vice-president of the district BNP Delwar Hossain Bhuiyan Dulal in the same constituency as valid.

The selection process was carried out from Saturday morning to afternoon in the conference room of the Netrokona District Commissioner in the presence of candidates, supporters and proposers.

The candidacies of the Communist Party (CPB) Central Presidium member Jolly Talukdar in the Netrokona-4 (Madan-Mohanganj-Khaliajuri) constituency, the other three are Jatiya Party’s Abul Hossain Talukdar in the Netrokona-3 (Atpara-Kendua) constituency, BNP’s Alhaj Abu Taher Talukdar in the Netrokona-5 (Purbadhola) constituency, and Jamaat-e-Islami’s Masum Mustafa have been suspended. In addition, the candidacies of 5 people in 5 constituencies have been canceled.

They are – Independent candidate Lutfur Rahman Deputy in Netrokona-1 (Durgapur-Kalmakanda) constituency, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Belal Hossain, BNP’s Dr. Anwarul Haque in Netrokona-2 (Netrokona Sadar-Barhatta) constituency, Khilafat Andolan Central Committee’s Assistant Secretary General Gazi Abdur Rahim Ruhi, Revolutionary Workers Party’s Champa Rani Sarkar in Netrokona-4 (Madan-Mohanganj-Khaliajuri) constituency, and Jatiya Party’s Wahiduzzaman Azad in Netrokona-5 (Purbadhola) constituency. 30 people filed nomination papers in 5 constituencies in Netrokona.

Out of these, 22 people’s candidacies were declared valid, while the candidacies of three were suspended and 5 were canceled.

Netrokona District Returning Officer Md. Saifur Rahman said that those whose nominations have been canceled can appeal within the specified time.

Those whose candidatures have been suspended will be considered valid if they submit their documents within the stipulated time.
