3 arrested with drugs in anti-drug operation in Ramu
Police have arrested three accused with marijuana, yaba tablets and locally made cholaimod in separate anti-drug operations in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
According to sources from Ramu police station, on the night of December 29, SI Mohammad Anwar along with his team conducted a raid in the Teschipul station area of Chakmarkul union based on a secret tip-off while on night duty.
At that time, when the police arrived at Amin’s shoe shop located on the south side of the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway, two suspects tried to escape.
A young man named Nezam Uddin (26) was arrested in the police chase, but the other accused Md. Amin (36) escaped in the darkness of the night. 42 pieces of yaba tablets were recovered from the custody of the arrested Nezam Uddin. A case has been registered under the Narcotics Control Act in this incident at Ramu Police Station.
On the other hand, on December 30, a temporary check post was set up on the Cox’s Bazar-Chittagong Highway in the Tea Garden area of Joarianala Union under Ramu Police Station under the leadership of SI Nixon Chowdhury.
At that time, a person named Md. Abshar Kamal alias Mintu (45) was arrested and 1 kg 800 grams of marijuana was recovered from his waist during a body search. A case has been registered against him under the Narcotics Control Act in this incident.
Also, on the same day, a person named Bamong Tangchagyan (35) was arrested in another operation in the Chainda Road area of Rajarkul Union led by SI Mohammad Anwar.
A total of 25 liters of domestically made Cholai Mad stored in 500 ml bottles were recovered from his custody. The process of registering a case in this incident is ongoing.
Ramu Police Station said that regular operations to eradicate drugs will continue and legal action will be taken against drug dealers.
