Finally, the work on Sufia Begum’s house in Baroi Algi village of Putia union in Shibpur upazila has been completed.

On Friday (December 26), their new house was handed over to the family—a small effort of humanity, but a huge change in their lives.

The family that once got wet whenever it rained, shivered when the cold came, and sank into uncertainty when the night fell—now had tears of relief in their eyes.

Instead of a dilapidated thatched house, there is now a safe roof over their heads, and the assurance of a peaceful sleep is hidden within four walls.

The silent hero of this story of change is Engineer Enamul Haque.

Although he is an engineer by profession, he is a man of the people at heart.

Upon learning about the suffering of a helpless family, he did not stop at just expressing sympathy—the house was built on his own personal initiative and with the help of the social organization Alor Dishari.

The new house was inaugurated by Mahbubur Rahman Monir,
Convenor of the Central Water Service Forum Narsingdi, and Saddam Hossain, Secretary of Electricity and Electricity, Public Rights Council, Central Committee, Karim Ahsan, MA Masum, Saiful Islam, prominent businessman Baraitala, Kamal Doctor Baraitala and many others from the Light Service Organization.

When the family members looked at the keys with grateful eyes, a new beginning in life was hidden in that gaze.

And at that moment, it was proven that humanity is still alive, just by holding the hands of such people.

Engineer Enamul Haque showed that big things are not needed for big changes – a little goodwill and the courage to stand by people are enough.
