2 motorcyclists killed in road accident in Moulvibazar
Two motorcyclists were killed after a pickup truck hit them in Kulaura, Moulvibazar. The incident took place at around 7 am on Wednesday (December 24) in the Ashurighat area of the Kulaura to Juri regional highway. The driver of the pickup is absconding.
The two motorcyclists who died were identified as Jabed Ahmed (19), son of Md. Dulu Mia of Dakshin Jangirai village in Jaifornagar union of Juri upazila, and Riyadul Islam (19), son of Md. Nuru Mia of Bhabanipur village. According to police and eyewitness sources, the motorcycle was heading towards Kulaura.
At that time, a pickup truck coming from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle, killing them on the spot. Later, the police went and recovered the bodies.
Eyewitnesses said that due to dense fog, there was serious disruption in the movement of vehicles on the road since night. The collision between a freight pickup and a motorcycle was mainly due to dense fog.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Police Station Md. Moniruzzaman Molla said that the two bodies have been recovered and sent to the morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken if the family files a complaint.
