In the recent situation prevailing in the country, special patrols, additional check posts and increased intelligence surveillance have been carried out by the Chapainawabganj Battalion 53 BGB in the border areas under its responsibility to control law and order.
On December 23, during the search operations conducted by setting up special temporary check posts at various places on the Chapainawabganj border, there is a possibility that some illegal and smuggled foreign weapons may have entered the border through the Raghabbati area under Shibganj police station.
Later, while conducting an operation at Raghabbati at 11 am, a suspicious person, sensing the presence of the BGB, left his bag with him and fled to the Indian border.
The next patrol team searched the scene and recovered the bag: 02 foreign pistols, 04 magazines and 05 rounds of bullets wrapped in black polythene were seized by the Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB)
It is worth noting that the 53 BGB conducted a special operation on December 15 and seized 4 foreign pistols, 9 magazines and 24 rounds of bullets. However, no one could be arrested in this incident.
The process of handing over the recovered weapons and ammunition to the concerned authorities for further legal action is underway.
Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, Commander of the Chapainawabganj Battalion 53 BGB, said that the BGB’s regular patrols and operations are continuing to prevent weapons, drugs and illegal infiltration in the border areas. Such operations will be further intensified in the future to strengthen border security.
Along with that, the Border Guard Bangladesh is firmly committed to border security, combating smuggling, and preventing any untoward situation at the border.
