Integrated Planning Meeting Held in Chapainawabganj to Raise Public Awareness on Village Courts
A district-level meeting was held in Chapainawabganj to formulate an integrated plan involving government and non-government organizations to enhance public awareness about Village Courts. The meeting took place on Monday (15 December) at 9:30 am at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, organized by the district administration under the “Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh (3rd Phase)” project.
The meeting was attended as chief guest by the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate, Md. Shahadat Hossain Masud. The session was chaired by Ujjwal Kumar Ghosh, Deputy Director (Local Government) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office.
Among the participants were Upazila Executive Magistrates, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT), District Secondary Education Officer, and officials from the Youth Development, Social Services, Women Affairs, and Agriculture Departments, along with representatives from various non-government organizations operating in the district. Also present were Md. Hafiz Al Asad, District Manager of Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO)—the implementing partner of the Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh (3rd Phase) project—and Upazila Coordinators of the project.
The meeting was moderated by Sabbir Ahmed Robel, Senior Assistant Commissioner (Local Government Wing).
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on integrating Village Court awareness activities into the regular programs of both government and non-government institutions. Participants expressed their commitment to working through their respective departments and organizations to widely raise public awareness about Village Courts among the general population.
It is worth mentioning that the “Activating Village Courts in Bangladesh (3rd Phase)” project is being implemented by the Local Government Division under the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, with support from the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Government of Bangladesh. Eco-Social Development Organization (ESDO) is working as the project’s implementation partner.
