NGO official Md. Zakir Molla of the non-governmental organization Nazrul Smriti Sangsad-NSS has been accused of collecting donations in the name of Victory Day in the name of Amtali Upazila administration.
General Secretary of Sheba Kalyan Savings and Loan Cooperative Society Md. Sohel made this allegation on Saturday night.

He demanded that the administration take legal action against him immediately. It is reported that there are 44 registered savings and loan cooperative societies of the cooperative office in Amtali Upazila.

In addition, the Microcredit Regulatory Authority has more than a hundred non-governmental savings and loan organizations.

Md. Zakir Hossain Molla, Communication and Advocacy Coordinator of the non-governmental organization NSS, is collecting donations from those organizations in the name of the upazila administration on the occasion of Victory Day this year.

There are allegations that if the authorities of the Savings and Loans Association do not want to pay the subscription, they are being intimidated by the administration to collect it. He is collecting subscriptions of 2,000 to 5,000 taka from these organizations in the name of government days. But the upazila administration does not know anything about it.

The upazila administration alleges that he is embezzling himself by collecting this subscription. He has been collecting subscriptions like this for the last two years. This has created panic among the authorities of the Savings and Loans Program Association.

There are also allegations that Zakir Hossain Molla is claiming to be the president of the Upazila NGO Forum and is collecting subscriptions one after another. After investigation, it was found that he is not from the Upazila NGO Forum. He has been committing various misdeeds using the name of the NGO Forum.

Md. Sohel, General Secretary of the Service Welfare Savings and Loans Cooperative Association, complained that Zakir Hossain Molla demanded a subscription of 2,000 taka from me in the name of the upazila administration, but I refused to pay him the subscription.

Later, he threatened me with the Upazila Administration and the Microcredit Regulatory Authority.
He also said that last year he took two thousand taka from me in the name of the Upazila Administration.
He has also collected donations from all the Savings and Loan Societies in the Upazila.

Joy Chandra Majhi, President of Swadesh Savings and Loan Societies, said that last year he took two thousand taka from me. This year he again demanded two thousand taka but I did not give it.

The collector, Md. Zakir Hossain Molla, Communication and Advocacy Coordinator of the non-governmental organization Nazrul Smriti Sangsad-NSS, said that there is no problem in making news against me. Saying this, he disconnected the phone.

Assistant Inspector of Amtali Upazila Sabma Office, Md. Badal Akon said that there are 44 Savings and Loan Societies registered with the Upazila Cooperative Office. Zakir is collecting donations from all the societies in the name of Victory Day.

Several people have made such complaints to me. I do not know the Upazila Cooperative Office about his collection of extortion. Legal action needs to be taken against the person who is collecting extortion in this way.

Non-governmental organization Nazrul Smriti Sangsad-NSS Executive Director Adv. Shahabuddin Panna said that Zakir Hossain was not allowed to collect extortion from non-governmental organizations-NGOs. If he is collecting extortion, it is his personal matter.

Amtoli Upazila Nirbahi Officer Muhammad Jafar Arif Chowdhury said that Zakir Hossain Molla was not allowed to collect extortion from NGOs and Savings-Loan Associations in the name of the Upazila administration.

Legal action will be taken against him subject to investigation regarding the collection of extortion in the name of the Upazila administration.
