4 injured in counterattack over land dispute in Mahipur
Four people from both sides, including a Chhatra Dal leader, were injured in a counterattack over a land dispute in Latachapoli Union of Mahipur Police Station, Patuakhali.
The counterattack took place in the Khajura area of Latachapoli Union on Wednesday (December 10) afternoon.
Union Chhatra Dal leader Rashed Rabbi, Motaleb Matubbar, and Zakaria were among 4 people injured in the attack.
The injured were admitted to Kalapara Patuakhali Health Complex after receiving primary treatment at Kuakata 20-bed hospital.
Ali Akkas Howlader, the father of the injured Rashed, said that Rabbi is a surveyor by profession.
When local Shahjahan Talukder went to survey his land, some leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliates ambushed him.
He said that some people including Moti Matubbar, Zakaria, Abu Taleb Matubbar, Ilias Matubbar beat Rabbi on the head and body.
He was seriously injured in this. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Kalapara Upazila Health Complex.
Motaleb Matubbar, who was injured in this incident, claimed that soil was being forcibly cut on his land with a bulldozer. When asked about this, he was attacked.
He said that we three brothers were beaten and are undergoing treatment at Patuakhali Hospital.
In this regard, Mohipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mohabbat Khan said that the police went to the spot after receiving information through 999.
The situation is normal at present. We have not received a written complaint yet. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.
