Human Aid celebrates 77th World Human Rights Day in Cox’s Bazar

The 77th World Human Rights Day was celebrated in Cox’s Bazar with grand celebrations.
Like every year, various programs are held on December 10 to raise awareness and pledge to protect human rights worldwide.
On this day in 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and began celebrating December 10 as World Human Rights Day from 1950. This year’s main theme was – “People-friendly political demands”.
A colorful procession and discussion meeting were organized on the occasion of the day by the initiative of Human Aid International (an international human rights organization) Cox’s Bazar District Committee.
On Wednesday (December 10, 2025) at 11 am, the procession started from Cox’s Bazar Shaheed Minar Point, circled the main roads of the city, and ended at Shaheed Minar Square. Later, a discussion meeting was held there.
The event was presided over by Khorshed Alam, President of the Cox’s Bazar District Committee of Human Aid International, and moderated by Nurul Hossain, General Secretary of the district.
The discussion was addressed by Kefayet Ullah Sajjad, Senior Vice President of the Cox’s Bazar District Committee of Human Aid International, General Secretary Nurul Hossain, and Organizing Secretary Amanul Islam.
Among others, Human Aid Vice Presidents Jamal Hossain, Abu Bakkar Siddique, Md. Belal, and human rights activists Md. Sumanul Haque Sumon, Abdu Rahim Babu, AK Abul Kalam Azad, Nasimha Akhter, and Hafez Hafiz Uddin.
Present at the event were Nesar Ahmed, Md. Ismail, Gias Uddin, Fayezul Karim, Nezam Uddin, Jobaida Akhtar, Md. Zulfikar Bhutro, Md. Shahriar Manik, Saimun Akhtar Iman, Hafiz Uddin, Jahangir Alam, Md. Russell Ali Taluktar, Yusup Ali and many others from various professions.
District Committee General Secretary Nurul Hossain said in his speech that Human Aid is always vocal against human rights violations, stands by the helpless people lying on the streets, eliminates hunger and poverty, prevents deaths due to wrong treatment, conducts rape trials in special tribunals, controls prices of commodities, creates awareness to stop adulterated and expired medicines – the organization is playing an uncompromising role in these matters.
Apart from this, Human Aid is working to create a humane and just society by creating public awareness to protect the environment including rivers, streams, forests, mountains, and seas.
Senior Vice President Kefayet Ullah Sajjad said – Human Aid has always played a courageous role in establishing human rights. Human rights protection is not possible unless justice is established in society.
District President Khorshed Alam said, Human rights are not just a topic of discussion for one day, it is the birthright of every human being.
Our main responsibility is to stand by the weak, oppressed and deprived people of society.
He also said, Like other countries of the world, it is a matter of great joy that Human Rights Day is celebrated in Bangladesh on the initiative of national and international human rights organizations.
The activities of Cox’s Bazar District Committee in establishing human rights are commendable.
I express my sincere solidarity with the just struggle of the exploited and oppressed people.
After the discussion, lunch was arranged for all the leaders and activists present at the initiative of the Cox’s Bazar District Committee.
The 77th World Human Rights Day was celebrated in Cox’s Bazar in an overall peaceful and festive atmosphere.
