International Anti-Corruption Day celebrated in Ramu

The International Anti-Corruption Day was celebrated in Ramu through various arrangements. On Tuesday (December 9), the day was inaugurated by hoisting the national flag and the ACC flag at 9:30 am along with the national anthem by Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Fazle Rabbani Chowdhury and Assistant Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Integrated District Office Cox’s Bazar Sakhawat Hossain.
After hoisting the flag, balloons and festoons were flown and anti-corruption awareness was spread through rallies and human chains. Brave freedom fighters, teachers, administration officials, journalists, representatives of social organizations, students and members of the Corruption Prevention Committee participated in the day-long arrangement.
Speaking as the chief guest at the discussion held at the Himchhari Auditorium of the Upazila Parishad, UNO Md. Fazle Rabbani Chowdhury said— “Each of us, in every field, must stay away from corruption.
If we get involved in corruption, we will not have a voice to speak out against corruption.
If the city burns down, we will not be able to survive even in our own shelter.
Government officials also have to correct themselves through self-criticism. I also have to take responsibility for my crimes.”
He further said that corruption is a serious threat to the stability, prosperity and equality of society. Therefore, a concerted effort is needed to prevent corruption.
He highlighted the importance of moral education from the family and developing an honest and creative mindset in children.
The meeting organized under the theme ‘Unity of Youth against Corruption: Building the Purity of the Future’ was presided over by Ramu Upazila Corruption Prevention Committee President Master Mohammad Alam.
ACC Assistant Director Sakhawat Hossain and Assistant Commissioner (Land) Swarup Muhuri spoke as special guests.
The meeting was also addressed by freedom fighter Muzaffar Ahmed, Ramu Police Station OC (Investigation) Mohammad Farid, officials of various government departments, heads of educational institutions, religious leaders and representatives of social organizations.
The speakers said that there is no alternative to public involvement in preventing corruption.
To increase the practice of transparency, accountability and honesty, it is important to create awareness at all levels, from educational institutions to families.
The spontaneous participation of people from all walks of life in Ramu to make the day-long program a success is striking.
