A youth named Fakhrul Islam Manju alias Bolli (25) was hacked to death in a medieval style in Begumganj, Noakhali by members of a teenage gang.
However, the police say that the deceased youth is an accused in multiple cases. He has been accused of terrorist activities.
The murder took place at around 7:30 am on Monday (December 8) at the door of Mandar’s house in Ward No. 1 of Hajipur Union of the upazila, focusing on past enmity and dominance.
The deceased Bolli is the son of Badiuzzaman of Khalasi house in Ward No. 9 of Chaumuhani Municipality of the upazila.
According to the family of the deceased and local sources, Bolli went to their house at around 6 am on Monday to visit his elder sister Shahnaz Akhter Tumpa’s sick daughter.
From there, on his way back home at around 7:30 am, when he reached the door of Mandar’s house in Hajipur Union of the upazila, 15/20 teenage gang members who had been waiting for him in advance attacked him with CNG.
Later, when he fell from the CNG, they beat him severely and hacked him to death. The family of the deceased claimed that Bolli was brutally killed due to a past enmity.
Abdul Motaleb, a businessman and local resident of Chaumuhani Bazar, claimed that Monday morning his son Mizanur Rahman left his house for Chaumuhani Bazar with 20 lakh 50 thousand taka.
On the way, when he reached in front of Montaj Sir’s house in the upazila, Bolli and his associates took my son out of the CNG-powered autorickshaw, beat him up and snatched the money. Later, on receiving the news, local people went there and thrashed Bolli to death.
Immediately, the angry locals protested demanding justice for the terrorists and attacked the deceased victim’s hangout.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Begumganj Police Station MA Bari said that there are 5/7 cases against the deceased victim, including weapons and explosives. He was beaten up by the public due to his various terrorist activities in the area.
The body is being recovered and sent to the morgue of the 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital. Later, legal action will be taken in this incident.
