Int’l Seminar on Advanced Methods in Food and Nutrition Research Held at IU
An international seminar titled “Advanced Methods for Extraction, Isolation, and Processing of Food, Nutraceutical and Natural Medicinal Plants” was held at Islamic University in Kushtia on Monday. The event was organized by the Department of Applied Nutrition and Food Technology around 11 a.m. in the seminar room of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology.
The programme was hosted by Professor Dr. Md. Abdus Samad, while the department chairman, Professor Dr. Md. Hafizur Rahman presided over the session. The keynote speech delivered by Professor Dr. Zaidul S. Islam Sarkar from the Northern Marianas College, an institution under the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, USA.
During his presentation, Professor Dr. Zaidul Sarkar discussed advanced research opportunities in food science, food technology and nutrition science, and also highlighted prospects for international research collaboration, securing research funding, and participating in overseas research programmes.
Notably, Professor Zaidul Sarkar is a researcher in food science and nutraceuticals, and also currently serving as a professor in the Food Science Programme at Northern Marianas College. Prior to this, he worked as a Professor of Nutraceutical Technology at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and as an Associate Professor of Food Science at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). He has also held postdoctoral, visiting professor and collaborative research positions in Japan, Saudi Arabia, and several other countries.
