The Coast Guard has arrested 7 smugglers along with huge quantity of cement and flour while smuggling to Myanmar.
On Monday evening, December 8, 2025, Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq said that based on a secret information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Station Urirchar at 11 am on Saturday, December 6, 2025, in the sea area adjacent to Urirchar under Sundip police station of Chittagong.
During the operation, the expedition team in that area gave a signal to a suspicious fishing boat to stop, but the boat ignored the signal and tried to flee at high speed. Then the expedition team was able to chase and arrest the boat.
The boat was searched and 7 smugglers were arrested along with 225 bags of cement and 90 bags of flour worth about 3 lakh 37 thousand taka, which were being illegally transported to Myanmar for the purpose of smuggling by evading customs and taxes.
The process of taking further legal action against the seized boat, evidence and the arrested smugglers is under process.
He further said that the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent smuggling.
