The rehabilitation work of the 690-meter pothole-filled road, which is unusable, is progressing rapidly.
The rapid progress of the construction work has brought relief to the people. The Rural Connectivity Improvement Project (RCIP) is a project implemented by the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) of the Government of Bangladesh, with the objective of developing rural infrastructure and improving the communication system.
The main objective of this project is to upgrade about 2,700 km of rural roads to weather-proof standards, increase the capacity of rural infrastructure organizations and develop a maintenance and management system. The first package of two packages under this project at a cost of Tk 21 crore 73 lakh (Kamalapur-Chandhat GC 00–3,800 meters) has already been completed. The work of the second package (Bongram GC to Tekerhat GC via Sindiaghat GC – 10,800 meters) is underway. The work order states that it should be completed before June 2026. However, in the Sindiaghat-Tekerhat area, where there are hundreds of wholesale and retail shops selling various types of goods, the BADC fertilizer godown and BCIC food godown, Sindiaghat police outpost and Charprasannadi market, the work of repairing the 690-meter road by pouring RCC using a combination of quality rods, stones, selection sand and good quality cement is going on rapidly, which will be completed in the next few days, said the Muksudpur Upazila Engineering Department. M/s Kamrul & Brothers Contracting Company has been given the responsibility of implementing this project.
Meanwhile, the road, which is full of potholes and waterlogged most of the year, has not been repaired for a long time, causing great suffering to the local residents and millions of pedestrians and heavy vehicles.
Finally, as most of the repair work has already been completed under the implementation of Gopalganj LGED, relief has returned to the public.
In this regard, local businessman Md. Imrul Hossain Kayes thanked the interim government and told the media that this road had been full of potholes and unusable for a long time. When the news of the public suffering was broadcast in various media, the Gopalganj LGED, as a government initiative, is implementing the road renovation work at a rapid pace. The quality of the work is also good. Moreover, officials from the Gopalganj LGED and Muksudpur Upazila LGED offices are present for round-the-clock supervision.
