The main accused and the victim’s husband Jasim Uddin (35) has been arrested by RAB-15 from Boalkhali area of ​​Chittagong in the case of recovery of the half-melted body of a woman in a bag from Tachakhali canal in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. He was arrested in a joint operation by RAB-15 and RAB-7 on Monday (December 1, 2025) night.
On November 13, the police recovered the body of an unidentified woman in a bag from Tachakhali canal in Haldiapalong union of Ukhia. Later, the family identified the body as Rahima Akhtar (30).
The deceased Rahima is the daughter of Amir Hossain, a resident of Jaliapalong union in Ukhia, and the wife of Jasim Uddin of Marichya area. The family said that Rahima had been missing since 11 pm on November 6. The incident created a huge sensation in the area.
RAB said that considering the importance of the incident, RAB-15 quickly visited the scene and started a shadow investigation.
With the help of information technology, the location of the first accused in the case, Jasim Uddin, was identified. Later, he was arrested in the Purba Gomdandi area of ​​Boalkhali. During the initial interrogation of RAB-15, Jasim Uddin confessed that he planned to kill his wife due to a long-standing family dispute between the husband and wife. On November 6, with the help of the fourth accused named as Mobarak, Rahima was taken to a secluded place near the house in the evening and stabbed to death. Later, the body was buried. The next day, when people in the area saw blood near the scene and expressed suspicion, Jasim and Mobarak picked up the body, wrapped it in a bag and floated it in the Tachakhali canal between 10 pm and 11 pm to hide the matter.
After the incident, the victim’s mother Selina Akhter filed a murder case with Ukhia Police Station, naming five people as the plaintiff and three or four other unidentified people as accused. RAB-15 said that further legal action, including the handover of detained Jasim Uddin, is under process.
