Various irregularities have been alleged in the implementation of the development assistance project of Saota Union in Barhatta Upazila.
In this regard, the outgoing executive officer of Barhatta Upazila Kabirul Ahsan said that the contractor will receive the work bill for the amount of work he does.
The new executive officer will come and inquire about this matter. Contractor Abdul Bashir said that he is working according to the rules and is not making any mistakes.
Residents of Ward No. 3 of Saota Union have complained about the work. Based on the complaints of the locals and on-site inspection, it was learned that in the 2025 fiscal year, the development assistance road work in front of Saota Union Parishad is being carried out by Md. Abdul Bashir under the name of Messrs. Al Amin Contractor Organization at a cost of 6 lakh 76 thousand taka. Due to various irregularities in the work, the locals have stopped the work.
The locals obstructed the work due to irregularities in the use of low-quality materials in the construction of this 76-meter road.
Regarding this, Niamat Hossain of Saota village said that there are irregularities in the rod cement and brick sand in the road development work of the parishad, so we have stopped the work.
Abdul Salam of the area said that there has been looting on the road in the name of development. No work has been done.
Regarding this, Golam Rabbani said that the number 2 brick was used and the cement was not given properly. This road will have to be built anew. Otherwise, everyone in the area will form a human chain. Azizul member of the parishad and other members said that there have been widespread irregularities in the road work, so the locals have stopped the work. The members said that irregularities have started in the parishad since the day the administrator of the parishad, A.S.M. Golam Hossain, took charge of the Saota Union Parishad.
He does not come to the parishad for months. The people of the area have to wait for months for birth registration and inheritance certificates. Despite multiple calls to the council administrator A.S.M. Golam Hossain on his mobile phone regarding the road work, he could not be reached.
