The BGB said that at around 3:20 am, a special patrol team of Balukhali BOP saw three people entering from Myanmar side in the Kakra Bridge area, about 700 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar BP-30. When the BGB members challenged them, they quickly fled towards Myanmar, leaving behind the bags wrapped in black cloth in their hands. Later, the abandoned bags were searched and a total of 20,000 pieces of yaba wrapped in blue airtight packets were recovered.
However, despite efforts till morning, the absconding drug dealers could not be found. Ukhia Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Jasim Uddin, PSC said, “Detective surveillance has been further strengthened to identify and arrest the escaped drug smugglers.
The process of handing over the recovered Yaba to Ukhia Police Station is underway.” He also said, “BGB is not only working on border guarding, but also on preventing drugs and smuggling from an equally strong position. Such operations will continue in the future as well.” It is worth noting that the Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) under the Ramu Sector of Cox’s Bazar Region has been achieving significant success in border security, drug suppression and smuggling prevention for a long time.
