Shama-Mashabih Duo Takes the Helm of CoUJA
The election of the 11th Executive Committee of the Comilla University Journalist Association (CoUJA) has been completed. Abu Shama, the university correspondent for Daily Kalbela, has been elected President, while Chowdhury Mashabih, the Comilla University correspondent for Daily Sangbad, has been elected General Secretary.
The voting began at 11:30 am on Thursday (27 November) at the office of the Proctor. All positions, including President and General Secretary, were elected through direct votes cast by CoUJA members.
Professor Dr. Md. Mokaddes-ul-Islam of the Department of Bangla served as the Chief Election Commissioner. The Election Commissioners were Dr. Md. Jony Alam, Assistant Professor of Mathematics, and Mashiqur Rahman, Lecturer in Mass Communication and Journalism.
The newly elected committee members for other positions are: Vice President: Mohammad Rajib (Daily Bangla); Joint General Secretary: Tanvir Salam Arnav (Daily Inqilab); Finance Secretary: Mohammad Jubayer (Daily Janakantha); Office Secretary: Anisur Rahman (Daily Samakal); Information & Library Secretary: Hedayetul Islam Nabeed (The Daily Sun)

Speaking after the election, newly elected General Secretary Chowdhury Mashabih said, ‘CoUJA has always worked to safeguard the rights of journalists at Comilla University. We will continue our efforts to ensure a safe environment for journalism on this red-soiled campus and strengthen the path of truth and justice.’
Newly elected President Abu Shama said, ‘CoUJA has consistently played a leading role in ensuring the rights, dignity, and safe working environment of student journalists. I will work to uphold and strengthen that legacy. We will remain united in advancing transparent, ethical, and responsible journalism.’
