Among the rising wave of promising young fashion designers in Bangladesh, Mohona Binte Mahtab, a student of BUFT, is steadily making her mark. Her journey into the world of fashion began in childhood, shaped by an innate fascination with colours, fabrics, and the simple joy of sketching patterns on paper.

What started as doodles in the corners of her notebook gradually evolved into a dream she was determined to pursue. To give that dream a professional shape, Mohona enrolled in the Fashion Designing (Honors) program at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT). From there, her creative journey found direction, discipline, and a wider horizon.

Family support played a vital role in her development, especially the unwavering encouragement of her father. His constant reminder Stand on your own feet became the foundation of her confidence.

Reflecting on her journey, Mohona shares, My father is my greatest strength. He believed in me, and that belief helped me reach where I am today.
It is this strength that enabled her to present her own designs on the runway ,one of the most significant milestones of her early career.

One of Mohona’s most notable achievements is her recent collection, Golden Loom – Timeless Nature.
The collection draws inspiration from Bangladesh’s pride ,the jute plant, often called the Golden Fibre. According to Mohona, Every dress is not just an outfit,it is a story of our roots.

Her work reflects a harmonious blend of heritage, environmental consciousness, and contemporary aesthetics qualities that have already made her an inspiring name among fellow fashion students.

The collection also embodies the spirit of Bangladesh’s prestigious Golden Loom concept, which symbolizes national excellence in textiles, craftsmanship, and sustainable fashion. Mohona’s creations stand as a modern expression of that same philosophy where tradition is reimagined with a fresh, innovative touch.

As she continues her journey, Mohona hopes to carry forward the essence of Bangladesh’s cultural heritage through her designs, proving that fashion can be both artistic and deeply rooted in identity.
