The High Court has suspended the order of the Rangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge Court on new membership in the Rangpur Press Club through the administrator. At a press conference at the city’s Central Convention Center on Monday (November 24), lawyers in the Press Club case Jobaidul Islam, Mahe Alam and Mokshed Bahlul said that a case is ongoing in the High Court to appoint a Press Club administrator through the Department of Social Services regarding registration and to cancel the activities of the disputed administrator.
In the meantime, the disputed administrator of the Press Club, fueled by former Deputy Commissioner of Rangpur District Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, became very enthusiastic and registered as a member, disobeying the court’s ban. When a missed case was made on this, the court asked the administrator and the opponent to find out why the members of the Press Club were accepted despite the ban.
On the other hand, despite the necessary information and evidence, the Rangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge overturned the lower court’s ban on membership. When the Press Club Committee appealed to the High Court against this verdict, on November 17, Justice Mahmudul Haque issued a rule against the opponent, suspending the order of the Rangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge Court for 6 months. Through this order, all the activities of the administrator regarding the 105 new members taken by the disputed administrator have been suspended for 6 months. The lawyers said that the illegal interference of the Department of Social Services on the Rangpur Press Club will be resolved by getting justice through the High Court soon.
Rangpur Press Club President Monabbor Hossain Mona, General Secretary Marina Lovely, City Press Club President Swapan Chowdhury, General Secretary Humayun Kabir Manik and leaders of various journalist organizations were present at the time.
Lawyer Mokshed Bahalul in the Press Club case said that the expelled members of the previous committee have embezzled large sums of money while holding important positions. In the case filed by the current committee against this, they are using the administrative machinery to appoint administrators and membership in the Press Club as part of an attempt to overturn the total system.

However, our initial victory has come through this order of the High Court. Another lawyer, Mahe Alam, said that the Rangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge Court had ordered both parties to remain in a standstill until the hearing of the case regarding membership in the Press Club through the disputed administrator. But the disputed administrator has taken 105 new members in the Press Club, ignoring the court order. Former DC Rabiul Faisal has published that notification on his website. A violation case is ongoing in the court regarding this. The disputed administrator has taken members by ignoring the rules of the questionable constitution submitted by them. Despite presenting so much evidence in court, we believe that the verdict given by the Rangpur Additional District and Sessions Judge Court regarding the Press Club has been manipulated. The media is one of the fourth pillars of the state. The DC is the representative of the state. Now if the representative of the state suppresses the media, then there will be no freedom of the press.
Journalism cannot exist under the clutches of the administration.
Lawyer in the Press Club case Jobaidul Islam said that the High Court order regarding the membership of the disputed administrator in the Press Club clearly states that the order of the Additional District and Sessions Judge Court, which had earlier overturned the ban of the lower court on taking members, has been suspended by the High Court.
There is no opportunity for membership in the Press Club through this.
There is also no opportunity for the Administrator to form a committee.
Along with this, there is no opportunity for the Press Club to appoint them. Press Club General Secretary Marina Lovely said that during my tenure, the maximum number of professional journalists have been made members of the Press Club according to the constitution.
After the judicial process, all professional journalists will be included as members in accordance with the constitution. The traditional Rangpur Press Club is the wealth of the people of this district. The conscious people, including journalists, will not accept any corrupt conspiracies using the administration to do this.
