The prestigious Cox’s Bazar Government College, one of the leading educational institutions in South Chattogram, inaugurated the Principal’s Cup Inter-Department Football Tournament 2025 in a festive atmosphere on Sunday (23 December). The tournament was formally inaugurated on the college ground by the Principal, Professor Mohammad Amirul Anwar Chowdhury.
Special guests present at the event included Muhammad Ullah, Head of the Department of History; Mofidul Alam, Head of the Department of Physics; Associate Professor Abul Kashem; and Associate Professor of Botany and Convenor of the event, Nazim Uddin, along with other faculty members of the college.
A total of 16 teams are participating in the tournament, divided into four groups:
Group A: Higher Secondary (HSC), Department of Bangla, Department of English, BA/BSS
Group B: Department of History, Islamic History & Culture, BBS/BSc, Department of Accounting
Group C: Department of Physics, Department of Political Science, Department of Management, Department of Chemistry
Group D: Department of Mathematics, Department of Economics, Department of Zoology, Department of Botany
The event commenced with the opening match between the Department of Mathematics and the Department of Economics.
Speaking to The Daily Morning Glory, Principal Professor Mohammad Amirul Anwar Chowdhury said, “Sports help uncover the hidden potential of students. Through such activities, they learn leadership qualities and stay away from mobile addiction and other harmful practices.” He extended his best wishes to all participating teams.
