Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (53 BGB) conducted a raid in Gopalpur village of Manaksha union of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj and seized a huge quantity of narcotic tablets.
At 7 am, based on secret information, based on information about the smuggling of narcotic tablets through Gopalpur village of Manaksha union of Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district, a patrol team of Manaksha BOP conducted a raid and saw two suspicious persons coming on a motorcycle. When they signaled him to stop, he abandoned the motorcycle on the side of the road and ran away.
After searching the scene, the patrol team was able to seize 4700 pieces of Indian Tapentadol tablets from the bag in the motorcycle, whose market value is about 5,00,000 taka. Although Tapentadol tablets are primarily a painkiller, they are now widely used as narcotic tablets and their use has increased in various parts of Chapainawabganj district in recent times.
The process of depositing the seized tablets and motorcycles at the Chapainawabganj customs office is in progress, 53 BGB said in a press release.
Chapainawabganj Battalion (53 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Kazi Mustafizur Rahman, PASC confirmed the matter and said that the BGB is always vigilant to prevent any kind of illegal activities in the border areas under the responsibility of the battalion and patrolling activities have been strengthened.
