A clash and scuffle broke out between leaders and activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and Chhatra Dal at Rajshahi Government City College.
Several people from both sides were injured in this. When the situation became heated, the college authorities immediately declared the institution closed.
The clash took place in front of the main gate of the college at around 12 noon on Tuesday. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Boalia Police Station Abul Kalam Azad confirmed the matter.
Eyewitnesses said that when some Shibir leaders tried to enter the college at noon, they started arguing with Chhatra Dal activists present there. At one point, a scuffle and scuffle broke out.
Upon receiving the news, Rajshahi District Jubo Dal Senior Joint Convener Faisal Sarkar Diko and Chhatra Shibir Rajshahi Metropolitan Branch President Shamim Uddin along with other leaders and activists of both sides rushed to the spot.
Chhatra Dal City College branch member secretary Emdadul Haque Limon complained, “The Shibir wants to create chaos here.
They are threatening to dig a grave for me here. If Limon has to be buried, the nationalist ideology in this country must be buried first.”
On the other hand, a Shibir leader complained, “The Chhatra Dal does not want to let us work in the college. They are calling us outsiders. But we are students of this college. We were attacked yesterday.”
Shaheen Reza, president of the City College branch Chhatra Shibir, said that when they went to the principal to seek permission for the freshman program, the Chhatra Dal stopped them.
“The Chhatra Dal called outsiders and attacked us.” ” he claimed.
However, college principal Dr. Ilias Uddin said, “Although there was some scuffle outside the gate, we quickly brought the situation under control. OC Abul Kalam Azad said in this regard, “There was a dispute between the two parties. Both sides withdrew after the police arrived. The situation is now normal.”
