Thousands of people, including students, are suffering due to lack of a bridge
Thousands of people, including local school and madrasa students, are demanding the construction of a bridge over the Udnachara in the Nalowarpar area of Sindurkhan Union in Srimangal Upazila of Moulvibazar. Due to the lack of a 60-foot bridge over the river, hundreds of local residents, including students, risk their lives to reach their destinations by crossing the bamboo bridge every day.
On one side of the Udnachara are Teliabda Government Primary School, Dubagaon Bahrul Ulum Dakhil Madrasa and Union Parishad.
On the other side are Durganagar, Golgal, Gazipur and Amrailchhara Government Primary Schools and other settlements.
There is a bamboo bridge made of bamboo over the river for movement on this route. Every day, hundreds of students cross this risky bamboo bridge to travel to school. The bridge becomes slippery on rainy days, increasing the risk of accidents. Often, students and pedestrians fall from the bridge and get injured. Because of this, many parents have expressed their reluctance to send their children to school. For 4 decades, the locals have been demanding the construction of a bridge, despite assurances from ministers, MPs and local public representatives, but the bridge over the river has not been built. Even after almost 50 years, there has been no initiative to build this bridge over the Udnachara.
Locals consider this to be the government’s indifference. Due to the lack of a bridge, the people of the area are suffering in transporting students, employees, businessmen, and even patients.
