The Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) police have arrested three members of an organized ring that cheated people by showing them gold-colored metal pieces during duty at the Heritage Chattar check post of Rajpara police station in Rajshahi city.
The arrested accused are Md. Hiru (45), Md. Firoz (41), Abul Kashem (59). Hiru is the son of Wahab Sheikh of Kayerdara village of Boalia police station in Rajshahi, Md. Firoz is the son of A. Hamid of Dashpukur village of Rajpara police station in Rajshahi, and Abul Kashem is the son of the deceased Ahmed Sheikh of Nagarpara village of Kashiadanga police station. According to the incident, on Saturday (November 15, 2025) afternoon, a DB police team led by SI Md. Touhidul Islam was on checkpost duty under the Heritage Chattar flyover. At 6:30 pm, while stopping a suspicious autorickshaw and searching it, the accused Md. Hiro took out a bag from his jacket pocket. Inside the bag, a gold-colored metal piece and a pad page with the words “Shri Jewelers” were found.
When Hero and Firoz were questioned about this, they were unable to give a correct answer, so the DB police team detained them.
At that time, the autorickshaw was seized along with the gold-colored metal piece and a pad page with the words “Shri Jewelers” in their custody. Later, during interrogation, the arrested accused Hiru and Firoz said that if there were passengers in the moving rickshaw, they would deliberately throw the bag on the road, and later their accomplices would cleverly pick it up and open it in front of the passengers and try to sell it as gold. In this way, the accused had been deceiving innocent passengers for a long time by presenting the golden metal pieces as real gold. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the other three absconding accused. A regular case has been registered against the arrested persons at Rajpara Police Station and they have been sent to jail by the learned court.
