Youth festival celebrated to build a new Bangladesh in the spirit of the July Uprising in Kaliganj

In the spirit of the July Uprising, with the aim of building a new Bangladesh, the Kaliganj Upazila administration of Gazipur organized a week-long youth festival with the slogan ‘Come and change the country, change the world’ with great joy and enthusiasm. Chukball, marathon race, waste management Olympiad, youth society, cricket, cycling, badminton, book fair, craft and entrepreneur fair, pitha festival, painting exhibition, football, pleasant cultural programs, honors, awards and certificates were given.
The youth festival was held at the Kaliganj R.R.N. Pilot Government High School ground from Wednesday morning to late night, under the chairmanship of Upazila Executive Officer ATM Kamrul Islam and moderated by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Zakia Sarwar Lima. Secretary of the Planning Commission of the Ministry of Planning Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman was present as the chief guest.
He visited the stalls of women entrepreneurs trained by the Upazila National Women’s Organization and the Upazila Women’s Affairs Department, making various types of food, handicrafts and cosmetics, and their handmade clothes. An exceptional initiative at the fair was the initiative of BD Clean Kaliganj to collect 9 plastic bottles and gift 1 sapling to keep the environment beautiful, a picture exhibition of the leaders of the anti-discrimination student movement, where various footage of the student movement in July-August, the 9-point to 1-point movement, video images of Chhatra League attacks on students and police torture.
Along with this, the video of the heroic movement of the students at Kaliganj Bypass and Kapasia intersection was showcased through a video exhibition. The chief guest spoke to the organizers at various stalls. In the afternoon, the final match between Baktarpur Union Parishad and Tumlia Union Parishad was enjoyed at the Pilot School ground. In the match, Baktarpur Union Parishad defeated Tumlia Union Parishad by 2-0 goals and became the champion. Mamun and Sagar scored two goals for Baktarpur Union Parishad. Later, the chief guest Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman gave away prizes to the winners of various events. Finally, a pleasant cultural evening was held. At this time, among others, Taranya Festival Organizing Committee Member Secretary and Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Ismail Bhuiyan, Upazila Executive Officer’s wife Kashfia Rumiyat, Kaliganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Alauddin, Upazila Secondary Education Officer Nur-e Jannat, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Shahnaz Akhter, Upazila Public Health Engineer Md. Abul Hossain Akash, Upazila Social Service Officer Afroza Begum, Upazila BNP Convener Md. Humayun Kabir Master, Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Haji Aftab Uddin, Tumliya Union Parishad Chairman Md. Abu Bakar Mia, Baktarpur Union Parishad Chairman Md. Atiqur Rahman Akand Faruk, along with various department heads and political leaders of the upazila were present.
