Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-15 has rescued a college student who was kidnapped for ransom in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar district.
The operation was conducted in Chandali Para area of ​​Sabrang Union of Teknaf Upazila on Tuesday (November 11, 2025) night.
A press release signed by RAB-15 Assistant Director (Law and Media) Assistant Superintendent of Police A. M. Faruk said that the name of the rescued victim is Hasan Sharif Tahsin (24).
He is a second-year BBA student of Teknaf Government Degree College. The release said that on November 09, around 5 pm, when Hasan Sharif left his house and reached in front of Maymuna High School of Teknaf Municipality, 4-5 miscreants came on a motorcycle and blocked his way. Later, they threatened him with sharp weapons and forcibly took him away. Unable to find the victim, his family filed a general diary at Teknaf Model Police Station.
Later, the kidnappers called his mother and demanded a ransom of 30 Lakh taka and threatened to kill her if she did not pay.
When the victim’s family reported the incident to RAB-15 Teknaf camp, RAB identified the location of the kidnappers with the help of information technology.
Later, a raid was conducted at the house of a person named Kalu in Chandali Para of Sabrang Union and the victim was rescued unharmed. However, sensing the presence of RAB, the kidnappers fled. Hasan Sharif, who was rescued in this incident, has filed a case at Teknaf Model Police Station as the plaintiff. RAB said that further legal action is under process.
RAB said that RAB-15 is conducting regular operations in the border area of ​​Teknaf to suppress crimes such as weapons, drugs, human trafficking and kidnapping and to ensure public safety.
