In Moulvibazar, a police SI dressed as a wife and a force husband, a member of a clever smuggling gang and drug dealer, have been arrested. Saturday (November 8) afternoon, under the direction of Sreemangal Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Aminul Islam, ASI Sharafat Ali, wearing a burqa and disguised as a woman, arrested drug dealer Swapan Mia (34) from Kunjaban village of Sindurkhan Union of the upazila.
Police said that Swapan Mia has been involved in drug and border smuggling gangs for a long time. Law enforcement repeatedly failed to catch him because he quickly hid as soon as he sensed the presence of the police. Since he had multiple sources, he could easily escape after getting advance information about the presence of the police. The police adopted a strategy to bring him under the law. At one point, ASI Sharafat Ali, dressed in a burqa as a woman and accompanying force member Md. Rokon Uddin, dressed as a husband in a Punjabi cap, entered Swapan Mia’s house on a motorcycle. After entering the house, it was seen that Swapan Mia was lying on the bed. Before the police could realize the situation, they were able to quickly arrest him. ASI Sharafat Ali said, “We have been trying to arrest him for a long time. He is very clever; he would run away if he sensed the slightest police movement. For this, we had to make a tactical change. Finally, we were able to successfully arrest him by conducting an undercover operation. Sreemangal Police Station OC Aminul Islam said, “This successful operation to arrest the accused is commendable. No criminal with a warrant can remain outside the law. No matter how many strategies the criminals adopt, the police will apply the necessary intelligence and methods to bring them under the law. The arrested Swapan Mia has been kept in police custody. He will be sent to the learned court on Sunday (November 9).
