A child named Md. Samirul Islam (11) was killed in a speeding bus crash while crossing the road in Fakirhat, Bagerhat. The accident occurred in the Katakhali area of ​​the upazila on the Khulna-Mongla highway. The deceased Samirul Islam is the son of Md. Saiful Islam of Homna area of ​​Comilla. He worked with his father in a welding workshop in Katakhali. Due to that, they had been living in a rented house in the Katakhali area. Police and locals said that on Sunday (November 9), when Samirul Islam left his house, he came to the Katakhali area and crossed the highway when a bus named Dhakagami Setu Paribahar ran over him. Police and locals rescued the child and brought him to the Upazila Health Complex.
The doctor on duty there declared him dead. Dr. Uttam Pal of the emergency department of the upazila health complex said that the child was brought dead to the hospital. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Katakhali Highway Police Station Md. Zafar Ahmed said that the body of the child killed in the accident has been recovered.
The fatal bus has been seized. However, the driver and his assistant have fled. The body will be handed over to the family after the legal process is completed.
