Dr. Shahidul Alam’s nomination sparks uproar in Kaliganj for second day
The area has been in turmoil for the second day in a row after BNP’s central executive committee member and renowned doctor of the poor Dr. Shahidul Alam was not nominated in Satkhira-3 (Kaliganj-Assasuni) constituency.
On Wednesday (November 5) afternoon, his workers and supporters held a large-scale human chain program from Kaliganj Bridge to the bus stand. In addition to leaders and activists of various levels of BNP, its organs and associate organizations, ordinary people participate in it.
During this, the protesters kept chanting slogans “Hatao Kazi, Bachao Dhaner Shish.” The areas around Kaliganj, Assasuni, Debhata upazilas were filled with the participation of their devotees in the program.
Nalta Union BNP President Kismatul Bari presided over the human chain. District BNP member Sheikh Nuruzzaman, Upazila BNP former student affairs secretary and Bishnupur UP chairman Jahangir Alam, Nalta UP chairman Azizur Rahman Par, District Tarun Dal vice-president Masum Billah, BNP leader SM Hafizur Rahman Babu and others spoke.
The speakers complained that Dr. Shahidul Alam is a leader of the people. While sacrificing his life, the man never thought about himself. He is a doctor for the poor. If he is not nominated, the Satkhira-3 constituency will be lost to BNP. They demanded that the central decision be quickly reconsidered, the nomination of Kazi Alauddin be canceled and Dr. Shahidul be nominated.
After the human chain, the leaders announced a 7-day continuous program. They said that the program will continue every day until their demands are met, and if necessary, they will march towards the BNP Chairperson’s office in Gulshan.
