Human traffickers arrested in joint operation in Teknaf, 25 people including women and children rescued

Two human traffickers have been arrested in a joint operation by the Coast Guard and Navy in Gohin Pahar, Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar.
During this time, 25 victims, including women and children, who were held captive for the purpose of trafficking, were rescued.
Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq gave this information through a press release on Tuesday (November 4, 2025) morning.
According to intelligence sources, some human traffickers have detained many people, including women and children, in the hilly area adjacent to Jumma Para of Baharchhara Union in Teknaf for the purpose of trafficking to Malaysia.
Based on the information received, the Coast Guard and Navy jointly conducted an operation in the area from 2 pm to 5 pm on Monday (November 3).
During the operation, 25 victims who were being held captive for the purpose of trafficking were rescued and two human traffickers were arrested from the scene.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq further said that during initial interrogation, the rescued persons said that some organized trafficking gangs were planning to smuggle Bangladeshi and Rohingya citizens to Malaysia by promising them a better life, high-paying jobs and cheap trips abroad.
The traffickers were preparing to send them to Malaysia by boat from the coast adjacent to Marine Drive at the scheduled time.
At that time, it is known that the traffickers were also trying to extort ransom by torturing the prisoners.
He said that the process of taking further legal action against the rescued victims and the arrested human traffickers is underway.
Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq said that the Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent human trafficking.
