A special court has sentenced Advocate Zahurul Islam, Chairman of Cooperative Industrial Traders Association of Bogura, to 4 years in prison for the crime of acquiring assets worth 2 crore 50 lakh taka beyond known income.
Judge Md. Ayez Uddin of the Anti-Corruption Special Court gave this verdict on Tuesday afternoon.
In addition, the learned judge also ordered the confiscation of 2 crore 47 lakh taka that was illegally acquired.
PP of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Mahmuda Khatun Sukhi confirmed the above information to journalists.
The convicted Advocate Zahurul Islam is a teacher and former acting principal of Taslim Uddin Tarafdar Degree College in Atapara area of ​​Sonara, Gabtali, Bogura.
Although his home is in Kamarchatta village of Rameshwarpur union, he lives in a luxurious house in Jamil Nagar area of ​​Bogura city.
However, family members have claimed that through a legal battle, Advocate Jarul Islam will be released and proven innocent.
